1998: John Samuel Ghobrial, an Egyptian national and a panhandler, was sentenced to death April 2, 2002 for molesting and dismembering Juan Delgado, a 12-year-old La Habra boy in March 1998, and then scattering his remains in concrete cylinders.
After killing Juan in a shed that contained adult pornographic magazines, Ghobrial, a trained butcher, carved up the boy with a meat cleaver in an attempt to hide the crime.
Ghobrial then went to a home-improvement store and purchased cement and other materials and caught a ride home from a stranger.
He stuffed the sixth- grader’s remains into seven concrete cylinders and scattered them around the neighborhood.
The boy’s genitals had been removed and have never have been found, according to news accounts.
Ghobrial is still on Death Row.

There are crazy sick people and then there are people like this. Can we replace the poor animals that we do medical testing on and just use this guy instead? It will probably be another 20 years before we finally get around to killing him. What is sad is we do lethal injection which is like going to sleep and never waking up, he deserves something very painful and drawn out.

I love the human testing idea. It’d be fun to see a little caption on the side of Bath and Body Works products that said, “No animal testing – tested on convicted murders.”
I remember when this happened. I was coaching softball at LHHS and the helicopters were circling overhead during practice. When I heard what happened, I originally thought it was a hoax because it was so heinous. Poor little Juan.
I don’t understand why we feed these people for such a long time, when bullets from a firing squad cost so much less.
Back in the days before this happend..i always saw this guy panhandling in front of a meast market in la habra..had only one arm…after i found out about what he did to this innocent 11 year old i felt terrible..i started thinking this monster had help to do this crime or to even go to home depot and carry a bag of cement…..
Don’t you get it yet? Liberals have taken over the judicial system – lock, stock and barrel. You folks hear about a crime, read about the trail and guy gets the death penalty and you think, “Yes, justice!” What you don’t realize until you read these articles is that there is an entire regiment of left wing attorneys who make a living off endless death penalty appeals – sometimes for 30 years. The leftist scum lawyers and judges have set the whole racket up. They satiate their love of the criminal over the victim and at the same time, the good liberal, makes a ton of money working the system. They say they are interested in justice but that’s a lie. They actually hate true justice but, instead, have created and entire legal racket where they win and you, the taxpayer and victim, lose.
You certainly need some psychological help. Illogical and rabid rants like yours are a menace to society. Let’s just bring down the courts and justice system and enforce laws by your personal definition of justice since you seem to be arbitraror of everything noble and fair. Please!!!

I agree that this monster should get what’s coming to him sooner, but I don’t agree with your system. There are many cases where innocent people have been convicted of murder and then have been proven innocent later. If we just killed them immediately we’d undoubtably be killing some innocent people. This could happen to you or someone you care about. Some people have been put to death for their crimes, and later we find out that they weren’t the ones who commited those crimes. We need to eliminate the possibility of innocence before we just blast them away with a firing squad or whatever. You don’t have to be a liberal to think this way, just reasonable. Wrong convictions are reversable, death isn’t.
I am so so tired of the ‘innocent victim’ argument to spare a monster. With DNA, there will be even fewer innocent victims…

Why does it always turn out that the leaders of the lynch mob are the very folks who have the foulest secrets of their own? It’s as if they’re seeking absolution for their own sins and impulses. Ghorial’s value as a psychological case study, if nothing else, far outweighs whatever entertainment value his execution would provide the vultures among us. The man clearly has severe problems and should be kept away from others. Killing him (in our name) diminishes our collective humanity and conveniently overlooks whatever responsibility we, as a society, may bear for his disorder. Who is the true “sicko” in this parable?

My blood still boils when I read about a case concerning a kid. ‘Ghobrial will die on death row of old age, doesn’t it seem like there should be a fast-track to the needle when a child is killed
Here’s a better way of ending his life. I received an email awhile back of a man who tried to steal a big rig. He fell out of the door as the truck crept along and got caught under the front left tire. The truck stopped on top of him. He didn’t look too good. Kind of like a pancake. That’s what this guy deserves…..slow and painful.
I remember this case. I was 8 months pregnant at the time and lived in La Habra. I was devistated to hear this. If I remember correctly, the parents didn’t report him missing for over a day, why the heck not? who waits that long? It is our job as parents to protect out chidren from these kind of monsters. He already had his arm cut off just below this elbow. That means something where he comes from, at least that’s what I hear. This case still makes me sick. This monster does not deserve the air he breathes!
Too bad our judicial system protects criminals over the public…………. It’s really sad.

With liberals running the system, this man will probably be released on good behavior. Then it will happen again down the road, and it will be Jaycee L. Dugard all over again. Here’s a bit from the LA Times from 2001… apparently this scumwad had done something similar in his home country, BUT WE STILL LET HIM IN!!! Instead of putting him on Death Row, just put him in general population, and make sure EVERYONE knows what he did… he’ll be gone before long.

An Egyptian immigrant charged with the grisly murder of a La Habra boy was granted religious asylum even though he was wanted by authorities in his native country for allegedly committing a similar crime.
U.S. immigration officials acknowledged that they never checked with Egyptian authorities about John Samuel Ghobrial’s criminal background. In fact, they said it is long-standing Immigration and Naturalization Service policy not to contact the home countries of asylum applicants for fear it would endanger them and their families.
I’m a fairly religious person, and I definitely think there shouldn’t be a death penalty when there is any margin of doubt.
But after reading these Notorious Cases and how many death row inmates are still alive twenty years later? I think killing is wrong, but so is paying taxes to keep these sickos alive.
And this guy is the last straw. He got the death penalty, so why is he serving Life in Prison? It seems an injustice to the child’s family, to tell them one thing and do another. They should have another trial if they are going to keep him alive. It looks like the court system is not doing their job.
