Day 19: An abortion gone bad

1979: Dr. William Waddill, a prominent Huntington Harbour obstetrician, was charged with strangling a fetus delivered after an unsuccessful abortion on an 18-year-old high school student.

The frightened young woman had to push her way through throngs of protesters and glaring camera lights outside the Santa Ana courthouse to testify against Waddill in two headline-making trials that focused public attention on the abortion debate raging across the country.

Prominent celebrity lawyer Charles Weedman, who once defended singer Claudine Longet in the shooting death of her lover, skier Spider Sabich, arrived at the courthouse on many days in a limousine.

Prosecutor Robert Chatterton quoted poet Dylan Thomas in his final argument. It was high drama. Twice, Waddill was tried on murder charges.

Twice, the jury deadlocked. Orange County Judge Byron K. McMillan ultimately dismissed the case against Waddill in 1979 after the second hung jury.

Can you imagine what kind of detached personality it takes to strangle a “just delivered” baby? I never would have believed that someone like this could get off until I sat on a jury. All it takes is one stupid moon bat juror and the criminal walks.

  • John says:

I guess he was Pro Choice!

  • John says:

It would have been better for me not open this article. What a coward of a man.

  • caseclosed says:

I don’t believe in abortion but I bet alot of people wish Obama’s Mom did.

    • tired of racist says:

I’m tired of people’s racist remarks against Obama! Put the blame where it belongs on the Bush administration. Obama has to try to clean up the mess as Blacks always have to with limited resources. WHO’S YOUR GOD? BLESS YOU ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!!

      • Tyrone says:

How is it racist to wish Obama’s mom believed in abortion? I thought Obama was at least 50% white. I guess it’s disparaging to his Kenyan birth.

      • OC4truth says:

caseclosed’s remarks are inappropriate. I don’t care for Obama, but the statement is out of line.

Nonetheless, what is racist about it? It seems more racist to me to assume that any negative comment about Obama is because of his race.

    • craig says:

What a lame comment—- I like President Obama—- we need all this change even though painful—- 8 yeas of the retard Bush was too much….. and as for Dr Waddill—- bad man…

    • Sergio says:

But even more people voted him in as President,
      still a sore loser?

      • Tyrone says:

Overheard at the Chicago voucher handout for $3500: “This is why we voted for our man Obama. This is why.” Obama must be proud to have so many thinking people voting for him.

    • peter says:

Neither do I but Obama is an exception that ass is ruining our country yet his voters are still in denial with the exception of a few

    • dennis says:

      caseclosed

So you hate women! Well kudos to you.

    • Jokerbasher says:

      Caseclosed: you are an idiot.

    • WhyDoChristiansHate? says:

caseclosed: Are you quoting the Bible?

      • OC4truth says:

Yes, that was an inappropriate comment, but don’t make illogical projections as to what was behind it.

What a stupid screen name. Who said that person is a Christian? we don’t know his religious or non-religious views.

Of course that is not in the Bible. Although abortion is not directly mentioned as such in the Bible it does talk about God knowing us from our Mother’s womb in Psalm 139.

    • marley says:

What a horrible thing to say. People may not like his policies, but as a human being, he is a decent man, which is more than I can say about you.

      • StephenR says:

How do you know he is a decent man? Just because he has good diction? You don’t even know anything about the guy except that he is a politician.

      • smartayss says:

He IS a decent man, but I think a lot of people would recant their vote now that he is in office………… Gee, should we have voted for a man who served his country (to say the least) with over 20 years in political office, or some unethical attorney who hasn’t even been in office for two years.

        Our society is failing.

        See the 2008 election results.

The only thing McCain was good at doing was crashing fighter jets.

        • saturnx311 says:

Yes, society IS falling, and people like you are leading the way.

        • anaheimlvr says:

oh wah, smartayass. George Bush and the Republican fillabustering minority got the nation into this mess. You all would rather see our great nation fail than have a democratic president and congress lead us out of misery. Nothing, not even progress and success, will make you happy. If you are so unhappy with our society, then get out. I’ll bet you also think Ca is a horrible place. Nobody is preventing you from voting with your feet. So go now before your precious state and country is overrun by commies, immigrants and liberals.

        • gdb says:

yeah, it would be a LOT better if mccain and hockey mom were ramping up the wars and sending more kids to die for nothing. and all their energy buddies and defense buddies would be feeding at the trough. mccain would be appointing 100s of people who have even less of a clue about what to do to get us out of this mess, because the talent pool he would be selecting from got us INTO this mess. the only people who would recant their votes are idiots who shouldn’t be allowed near a ballot box in the first place. we had 8 years of a guy who ran this country exclusively for the rich using his gut and never firing a neuron. nobody wanted to risk somebody 100x more idiotic than bush being at the controls and that’s mccain! bush blows snots with more brain power than hockey mom. and mccain doesn’t have a daddy that can help him either, so we saved ourselves from being truly, utterly screwed over for generations by voting against mccain. anybody who has 2nd thoughts about that should sit out during election time and let the adults decide…

    • Jo says:

And yet you believe in saying hateful things about other human beings. That is a pretty low thing to say about anyone.

    • hunterr83 says:

You get that insult from a 5th grader? Sounds like something I’d hear in elementary school.

    • Oclaw714 says:

I believe you’re an ediot! Case closed!

    • mini mr T says:

I’m anti abortion too, but I feel sorry for all of the other pro-life people out there who have been so thoroughly punked and used by the GOP.

For years, the GOP promised the pro-life movement, that if we could only give them a Republican president, a majority in congress and a reasonable presence on the Supreme Court, then abortion would be abolished.

Well, we gave them all of those things in 2002, but did the GOP end abortion when they had the chance? No, instead they were too busy bogging us down in wars against a small terror organization (something that would have been much better handled by CIA assassination squads), letting the economy run amok, and fighting petty squabbles with other countries. They had a six year window where they could have outlawed abortion … and they did nothing, other than some minimal lip service.

In the end, its plain to see that the GOP is no more likely to end abortion than the Democrats, and in some ways the GOP is probably even less likely to end abortion, because if they did, then their only popular draw for conservative voters would be gone.

      • Joe says:

It’s not really up to the Republicans in Congrss or in the White House to outlaw abortion.

Someone needs to bring a case to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has to hear it. And the Supreme Court has overturn Roe v. Wade.

No one can force the Supreme Court to do anything.

      • Grunt41 says:

It is settled case law, so there is not much that a GOP controlled congress could do with abortion, except on the margins (e.g. partial birth, federal funding). The Supreme Court is the only place where it can be taken up, which the GOP President aided with Roberts and Alito being appointed to the bench.

You are wrong that the GOP would have nothing should abortion be outlawed. It is not a one issue party, otherwise pro-abortion folks, like Mayor Rudy, would not be a part of it. Though they have not practiced it as of late fiscal conservatism is a big draw and issue, smaller government, strong national defense, 2nd Amendment rights, etc. are all a part of the party platform.

    • Disgusted says:

Wow you are one sick person to even think something like that.

  • Patti Smith says:

The title of the article “An abortion gone bad” is rather disturbing. The baby was born alive, but the doctor strangled him/her. Was it good that the baby was born alive but bad that the doctor killed him/her? Or was it bad that the woman had an abortion and intended to kill her baby in the first place? Or was it good that this woman and this doctor contracted to kill a baby, but bad because the doctor had to step in when the abortion didn’t work and finish the baby off? I am an adult woman who was conceived in rape. I thank God and my birthmother for realizing my worth and giving me a chance to live. Yes, I am very pro-life for every baby no matter how conceived.

    • Vicky says:

Patti Smith, I’m glad your birth mother did the right thing, being conceived in rape doesn’t make you any less precious.

    • Get REAL says:

You are awesome and so is your wonderful mother. WOW!
God gave you a great platform and I’m glad you are using it.

    • OC4truth says:

Thank you Patti for coming out with your comments and your story. So many seem to think that rape is an excuse to kill the baby. I remember that Ethel Waters, the late blues and later gospel singer was also born out of rape of her mother who was I think only 13 at the time.

So many people just look for what seems like the easy way out of a dilemna of an unplanned pregnancy whether from force or consensual activity.

    • Leia Peison says:

no one is saying because you were conceived in rape that you should not be happy or that you are worthless. that is a fallacy. the pro choice position is that women should be given the choice to continue with a pregnancy or not because it is her body that is being used and her life and health on the line. women are not broodmares to churn out babies for the state. if women cannot control their reproductive destiny, they cannot control their lives and cannot be full participating citizens of society. in the case of rape, it takes away a womans control over her body and life. forcing her to continue an imposed impregnation is violating her again by denying her a choice over her autonomy. the personal use of my body by another is always my choice, whether that being be born or unborn. you spout adoption as an alternative, but i am curious, have you adopted? do you plan to adopt? so many prolifers bring more children into this world when there are already so many that need taken care of. you want these women to birth these children? then take care of them.

    • M says:

They continue to do this. A doctor in FL was recently accused of throwing a baby into a biohazard bag and being left to die when it was born alive after a late term abortion. This sort of thing happens all of the time, but I suppose they are a little more “hands off” about it.

  • tired of racist says:

This case is terrible- consequences of our decisions.

  • Dano says:

America is the greatest country; if you have money or fame, you can get away with murder!!!

  • Kenneth Kehl says:

In History you could tell how long a country would remain a country by How that country valued life. We in this country have devalued life now for three decades and we see the declinning of this country because of it. Crime is higher than it has ever been when we did value life. Poverty is higher then it has ever been since we valued life. Freedom is the lowest it has ever been since we valued life. Our economy is the lowest it has ever been since we valued life. Corruption is at its highest in our government since we valued life. We as a nation must get back to valueing life before we are no longer a Free Nation.

  • Robin Ruble says:

I remember that was the case; it was what got me off the fence as far as abortion was concerned. The baby was alive in utero that morning and dead in the hospital that evening, because of Dr. Waddill’s actions. The question was which action caused her death. If it was the saline injection while she was in unborn, it was a medical proceedure. If it was compression of her neck after birth it was murder. The difference was a few hours and a few inches - the length of the birth canal. That didn’t make any sense then and it still doesn’t make sense now.

  • mary pitcher says:

Remarks like those of caseclosed are (and I don’t use the word easily) evil. Note, I did not say that caseclosed is evil, just the remarks.
To have an issue with President Obama’s policies is great! Go for it. Let’s talk about the issues. But to wish our president were not alive (whether never born or even worse killed) is dangerous.

    • Get REAL says:

If you think that about caseclosed, then logically you have to concur that those who would agree ANYONE should be aborted are speaking “EVIL” remarks as well. Do not judge a person’s value because of their stature or position. Obama is not anymore special than anyone else. NO ONE should be killed because someone “chose” to. If you don’t agree you are guilty of “evil” against innocents.

  • Bill says:

I for one do not condone abortion. However, what a woman does to HER BODY is between her and her maker. We uncivilized human beings have no right to be the judge, jury, and executioner if a woman chooses her CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT!

A majority of anti-abortionists are fundamentalist far right christian hypocrites. Now what if women demanded that a man get sterilized for impregnating a woman??? It takes TWO people to conceive a child. Why does the man always get a pat on the back as he needlessly and carelessly spreads his seed?

I live in LA county. I challenge any of you anti-abortionists to go to the very northern part, Palmdale/Lancaster, and see all the UNWANTED AND THROWN AWAY foster children you hypocritically saved!! It’s no wonder these children have a huge chip on their shoulders. And when they’re 18, the system throws them into the street with NOTHING!!!

Why aren’t any of you adopting them to give them stability? Yeah, all a bunch of cowards. You don’t practice what you preach. You really don’t care about a woman and her health. Just that you want to CONTROL a woman in the name of your evil God!

The Constitution is very clear, A WOMAN HAS A RIGHT TO AN ABORTION WITH LIMITS. I do feel that after the 3rd trimester, an abortion cannot be allowed.

Look in the mirror before you go out witch hunting in the name of your God. Man’s law has spoken. Let God do his/her job at judgment day!

    • Vicky says:

Bill for a person who says he doesn’t condone abortion it really sounds like you condone them 100%. You don’t know what you are talking about, there are people lined up to adopt a baby. The unwanted and thrown away children you cite, abortion was available to their moms yet these people chose not to have one and also not to take care of their children.
. have you noticed how common child murder is now? it’s because abortion has cheapened the value of kids lives.

Birth control is very effective so there isn’t any excuse to have so many abortions, It’s laziness and feeling an abortion really isn’t such a big deal and I am woman, hear me roar.

3rd trimester? pretty far along. Partial birth abortion……..deliver feet first, sever cervical cord at the base of the skull. ugly business

    • OC4truth says:

Bill, you seem to have a lot of your facts mixed up. And your initial statement about not condoning abortion is rather strange since the whole rest of your post does condone abortion.

The problem is that it isn’t just the woman’s body. It is very clear that it is another individual who has been conceived–a pre-born human baby. The parts are all there before a woman even knows she is pregnant with a beating heart, arms, legs brain waves.

the facts are that many of the children who are later abused were not from unplanned pregnancies–just from irresponsible parents.

And no, the Constitution does not say anything about abortion. Instead they inferred a right to privacy, which also is not explicitly stated and from that inferred a right to abortion. The original “Roe” has since turned pro-life. The decision also side stepped when life begins and said that if it could be demonstrated it began at conception then the right to life would supercede privacy.

Of course that was a lame evading the issue. I remember taking a class on human development or child development at Santa Ana College before the abortion issue became so politicized. We spent a lot of time on prenatal development and were taught that human life is a continuum from conception to death–just different stages. The DNA of that individual is set from conception. It just needs to develop first in utero and then outside.

    • M says:

So Bill, the alternative is to kill them? Unbelievable

  • Surfcityred says:

Dang! LOL….. I sure wish I had thought of that one “caseclosed”.

  • ace says:

you know if you were raped at lets say 15 if you really didnt want the baby other than abortion what would you do or if you were going to die if you had a baby wouldnt you have no choice but to have an abortion

    • JusSayin says:

or if you were raped and you went to the hospital they would give you a morning after pill and a pregnancy couldn’t implant.

    • OC4truth says:

Ace, that is a big part of the problem that people ask questions like this. There are groups that will help a pregnant 15 yr old. It would be rare that she would face death if she had the baby. There was a case recently of a small child who they said was totally too small to have the baby and so I believe they did approve an abortion. If the mother’s life truly was in danger then ok as when they surgically remove a tubal pregnancy that has no chance of life.

Look in the yellow pages under abortion alternatives. There are many pro-life groups who will provide help for those as young as 15 or even younger who are pregnant. Of course often parents, though unhappy will be supportive. But where they aren’t others have and will help the young woman to carry the baby and help her to make decisions as to the future of her baby. They will help her to consider her options of whether to keep the baby or to place the baby for adoption. I assume they may also provide info on different types of adoptions whether open or closed.

More effort needs to be made to let teens know that there are alternatives if they find themselves with an unplanned pregnancy. Of course it is better to plan ahead and not get pregnant, but since girls do, there are alternatives, even when it is from as horrible a situation as rape.

In that case the girl would need extra support to deal with the emotional hurts going along with it, but help is available.

Also, while it does happen, I understand that most of the time rape does not result in a pregnancy.

  • Juan Doe says:

Caseclosed, I bet the same is true in your case. Thanks Register for giving ignit people a voice. Obama #1, And I’m proud to be an american…..

caseclosed: so you only believe in selective abortion then. leaving such an ignorant comment like that…

  • Frank says:

…”Mary W., a high school student, was examined by an ob/gyn on February 22, 1977, and found to be 28 weeks pregnant. This ob/gyn counseled that Mary’s pregnancy was too advanced for an abortion, and advised Mary to consider an adoption plan. Somehow, Mary learned that Waddill would be willing to do an abortion, which he initiated by saline injection on March 2 at Westminster Community Hospital in California.

Mary’s baby, a 2 lb, 8 oz infant girl, was expelled that evening and discovered by a nurse who was attending Mary.

The nurse clamped the cord and was about to put the baby in a bucket for transport to the pathology lab, when she noticed that the baby was moving and crying. Another nurse suggested putting the baby in the bucket anyway. Yet another nurse testified that she had seen the infant move but said nothing about this to avoid distressing Mary. The first nurse summoned the nursing supervisor, who noted that the baby was pink and making sucking motions. She sent the baby to the nursery and summoned Waddill.

A nurse at the nursery cleared the infant’s throat, placed her in an isolette, and charted a heartrate of 88. A neonatal ICU nurse began providing respiratory assistance on the little girl, and asked for help performing an intubation, which is routine NICU care.

Waddill arrived and dismissed all the others from room. Several witnesses heard Waddill instruct staff “not to do a goddam thing for the baby.” An ER doctor saw Waddill squeeze the umbilical cord, whereupon the “child jerked its body and gasped for air.”

A tape was entered into evidence of a call from Waddill to a pediatrician, Dr. Ronald Cornelsen. The tape had Waddill telling Dr. Cornelsen to come to the hospital, because the law required a pediatrician to assist when a newborn was in distress. Waddill said, “If we all tell the same story, there will be no trouble. … So long as we stand together, no one anywhere can make any accusations anywhere. … Do not get squirrely. Just tell them exactly as we’ve discussed. Just say you went in, there was no heartbeat and you left.”

Dr. Cornelsen testified that when he arrived at the hospital the infant, a baby of about 31 weeks gestation, was breathing and had a heart rate of 60-70. There were bruises on her neck. Dr. Cornelson said that Waddill told him, “Sorry to get you in this mess. We had a baby that came out live from a saline abortion, and it can’t live!” Dr. Cornelsen testified that he saw Waddill press on the infant’s neck, saying, “I can’t find the goddam trachea,” and “This baby won’t stop breathing.” Dr. Cornelsen testified, “I said, ‘Why not just leave the baby alone?’ He said, ‘This baby can’t live or it will be a big mess.’” Waddill requested potssium choloride, for an injection to stop the baby’s heart, but Dr. Cornelsen wouldn’t let the nurse get it. Dr. Cornelsen said Waddill also asked for a bucket to drown the baby in.

Waddill claimed that he hadn’t strangled the baby, that she had died of natural causes before he even arrived at the hospital to deal with the delivery. He also said that all of his actions were done in the best interests of the mother and the baby.”…

    • JusSayin says:

Frank I remember that day like it was yesterday, I never dreamed anything like that could really happen. My sister and I both worked at the hospital, other nurses were crying and talking about the sounds the little girl was making. knowing if they tried to help her they’d lose their jobs. I still get the feeling I’ve been kicked in the stomach when I think about it.

  • Gina says:

I do believe in abortions and have had 2, one at age 16 my second at age 22 and have NO regrets
I NEVER want children, they make you think of someone else 24/7.
I do wish that Sarah Falin’s mother believed in them, Todd is so sexy!!!

    • Vicky says:

gina I hope you didn’t wait a long time before murdering your children. You sound really proud. why didn’t you just get spayed?

      • Lucifer'sFlowers says:

Would you have been willing to care for Gina’s unwanted children?

        • M says:

“Unwanted children” are the result of irresponsible people the majority of the time. I feel no sympathy for Gina

    • OC4truth says:

I can understand not wanting children, however if you do not want children, please don’t get pregnant. Since you say you do not want children, why not just make sure that you will not get pregnant?

  • tony lee says:

Abortions while the fetus is not capable of sustaining independent life and when its structures resemble tadpoles or frogs should be okay. But late term abortions of premees who have proven to survive if given medical intervention and incubation is murder. Case closed. Btw, the writer caseclosed obviously was considered for abortion by his momma - but she didn’t believe in murdering even a bad seed who grew up to be a racist hater.

    • OC4truth says:

tony lee, you obviously haven’t done any study of prenatal development. Your comment reminds me of the books I was given as a child in the 1950s when they thought such things.

By the time a woman even knows she is pregnant the baby already has all its parts–head, torso, arms and legs and the heart is beating. Most the of the time there are also detectable brain waves.

The structures do not resemble a tadpole or anything like that for long at all. Do a little research.

Ignorant ideas like this is probably a reason there are so many abortions.

  • Justice Scalia says:

    LOL, good one, caseclosed!

  • J says:

What’s the difference between strangling a newborn and killing it in utero? That’s the crux of the whole abortion debate.
Personally, I think abortion is murder.
But some believe you can kill a newborn and it’s ok… just an abortion delayed by a few minutes.

So much talk about the rights of women. Well, parents are jailed every day for child abuse… what about their rights? Can’t they beat their kids? At least they aren’t killing them.
Yeah! That’s the right answer!! It’s all about the mothers rights. Kids have no rights, right? So let’s let all the child abusers out of jail!

because he is a black man or a man who was elected into office when the country was in a sh*thole and an old white man helped put us here? Change takes time…any intelligent person can figure that out.

  • bully says:

I’m curious as to what an abortion gone “good” is?

  • Fred says:

I do not believe that abortions should be outlawed, but I do believe that far too many abortions are performed than should be. I do not believe that abortion should be used as routine birth control. I had a girlfriend that intentionally did not use birth control, got pregnant, and had an abortion because being pregnant was inconvenient. Our child, had it lived, would be 30 years old now. If I could undo just one thing in my life, it would be that abortion.

I remember this case well, my sister and I both worked at Westminster Hospital at the time. Nurses were crying and talking about how the baby made noises that sounded like a kitten. This wasn’t the first time saline solution didn’t work, there are several cases where the child survived.

    • smartayss says:

The morning after pilll sounds like a dream come true, if people would pull their heads out.

      • saturnx311 says:

Please keep yours firmly stuck, because the more you talk, the more asinine you sound.

      • marley says:

My friend was raped, was more than happy to take the morning after pill, just in case.

i am anti-abortion when it is used as birth control, i am pro-abortion in cases of rape, certain life long disabilities or abnormalities, and when the life of the mother is at risk. not sure which side that puts me on.

        • Rick says:

I know a few very nice people who are the product of rape. …does that mean they should have been aborted rather than born? Why punish the unborn child with the death penalty just because of the crime committed by his father? An unborn child gets no due process before the fatal abortion.

        • saturnx311 says:

Have you ever just asked yourself why you are FOR abortion in cases of rape?
Why would you want to punish a baby, who never knew where she came from, with DEATH, for the sin of someone else?
There have been many productive, even prominent members of society who were the result of a rape.
I ask again, why would you condemn these human beings to death for the sin of someone else?
If you are honest and really question your heart here, you might just find that this hostility is a bit misdirected, might you not?

        • Get REAL says:

Does this type of thinking mean that if I am a product of rape I should be treated poorly after I am born? When do the rights of the child that is a byproduct of rape begin?

        • OC4truth says:

marley, read the comments above where a woman tells us that she was conceived as a product of rape and reconsider your point of view.

      • ThisIsNotAnExit says:

The morning after pill is not an abortion. It just causes you to start menstration early so the egg cannot get fertilized. I have had a couple of friends who took it and said their cycle was so bad they would never make the mistake of needing it again. I think it is a wonderful thing to have on the market.

      • Frank says:

We are all very fortunate a morning after pill and abortion was not an option when we were conceived. Be thankful!

  • Get REAL says:

Strange headline, there is no such thing as a abortion gone “good”.

  • Timothy Scavo says:

    You’re right, marley.
Decent people don’t wish death and destruction on others.

As for Dr. Waddill, he should have been convicted and sentenced to at least 25 years in prison. So sad that he wasn’t.

  • Get REAL says:

Ok. Larry, WHY are you playing God and censoring me????

Are you above the 1st amendment? Don’t like what you see?

  • StephenR says:

The whole abortion movement is nothing but genocide of minority babies for the most part. Why do you think that these abortion clinics are by and large in minority areas. Why do you think that the vast majority of abortions are of minority (non-white) babies. The whole planned parenthood movement is a fake and a racist organization. Hitler would have been proud of it.

  • saturnx311 says:

This time in history will go down as the lowest, most viciously murderous, disregarding of human life, in all the ages.
The individuals who believe in population reduction (absurd), the lawyers (God knows we all need more of them!), and greedy doctors, who, possibly shocked at the first on they performed, then ultimately grew numb, putting the golden god above the most sacred life of all, innocent human life, will be held accountable in the end. The quote about how the baby made kitten-like noises is most appropriate. Does anyone really believe that if this baby were a kitten, that there wouldn’t have been a TEAM of people trying to save it? And don’t ANYONE, EVER, think that this scenario is not played out in EXACTLY the same way EVERY DAY in the US. At least a MILLION abortions per year.
As the human race evolves spiritually toward a higher state, I predict that anyone who contemplates the collective mindset about this issue…will be horrified.
The passion that people feel about promoting abortion is simply parroting of a slogan, cliches and misdirected hostility towards this most precious of all human life, the human “fetus”.
The whole “debate” is fabricated and promoted by the media, who are corporate-owned, just as Washington, DC is a corporation, separate and apart from the United States.
I fully believe that 99% of people are AGAINST all abortion in the heart of hearts, but are too sheep-like, and afraid to stand up and admit it.

There is no excuse for abortion.
There is no excuse for abortion.
There is no excuse for abortion!!!

DON’T give me the “rape, incest, or life of the mother”, excuse.
WHO in their right mind would sentence a violent offender’s SON or DAUGHTER to DEATH?

The ZPG folks and their ilk have gotten what they wanted: Abortion is a “normal”, everyday occurrence. No big deal.
I say again, people will look back with horror and shame upon this time in history, when abortion was so rampant and the doctors who committed so many MURDERS were actually paid large sums of money for the MURDERS they committed.

  • saturnx311 says:

Yeah smartayss , let’s all forget about being responsible for the consequences of casual sex!
    Why not?
    Idiot.

  • Vicky says:

many people take abortion too lightly, planned parenthood will fight tooth and nail to not have to show you whats involved in an abortion. Just keep thinking it’s a little blob. If I would consider an abortion I’d do a little research myself but I guess in the long run people don’t want to know. Birth control methods are very effective, If you are raped the hospital gives you a morning after pill. There is no reason for so many abortions and especially at 5-6-7-8 months.

  • ThisIsNotAnExit says:

How far a long was the mother that the baby was born alive?

    • JustPeachy says:

This was a tragic story. I guess it goes to show that late-term abortion is a terrible idea and always was. I guess we never learn.

    • greylox says:

**Really? Recant their vote now that he’s spent 10 months trying to clean up 8 years of a disastrous Republican presidency? Well, I suppose it might be a typical response from the doltish types who want instant gratification. I, for one, am VERY proud of our President, and will vote for him again.

  • Wouldn’t adoption been better than murder at this point?

A gruesome moneymaker for planned parenthood. I just googled abortion survivors and I feel like someone just kicked me in the stomach.

  • JDI says:

I remember this quite well - the girl was a good friend of mine at school and her dad was the principal of our high school. He resigned during the media swarm. Hope life has gotten much better for them since.

  • Wow says:

what a horrible man this Mr. Waddill- how do people just do that?? Just horrible.

  • In The Know says:

The other half of this story: This young woman was FORCED by her father to go through this abortion because he was Principal of her high school.

She had wanted to have the baby—she loved children dearly. But sadly, her father was just too embarrassed to have an unwed mother for a daughter.

    • Leia Peison says:

no one should be forced to have an abortion. and nobody should be forced to give birth. those are choices that can only be made by the pregnant woman, not you, not me and not the courts. it is her vagina that it is coming out of so it is her discretion what happens to it.
